'It’s Never Too Late for Love': Euclid Quartet plays late Valentine’s concert at Merrimans’

SOUTH BEND — The Euclid Quartet performs at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Merrimans’ Playhouse, 401 E. Colfax Ave., Suite 135.

Titled “It’s Never Too Late for Love,” the program features romantic and jazz music by candlelight for those who missed Valentine’s Day.

Composed of violinists Jameson Cooper and Aviva Hakanoglu, violist Luis Enrique Vargas and cellist Justin Goldsmith, the Euclid Quartet has been the quartet-in-residence at IU South Bend since 2007.

This year, the quartet will premiere a new Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra by composer Anna Clyne, commissioned to celebrate the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association’s 50th anniversary and to be performed with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Alastair Willis.

The quartet also is at work on a CD of quartets by Debussy and Grieg.
