The close out 2023, streaming platforms Netflix, Disney+, Crave, Prime Video, Paramount+, Apple TV+ and more are giving us new shows to binge and movies to watch during the December holidays.

Leave The World Behind, the movie executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama, will be on Netflix in December, and we'll get the final episodes of the series The Crown as well.

Prime Video is releasing a new Christmas movie starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross, and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip RHONY (streaming on Hayu) is set to be a drama-filled reality show delight.

Leave The World Behind (Dec. 8)

Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali and Myha'la Herrold star in Sam Esmail's apocalyptic thriller Leave The World Behind, being released on Netflix Dec. 8.

The Obamas are among the executive producers of the film, based on the 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam. The story is set after a cyberattack that leaves two families trying to survive the disaster.

The Crown Season 6, Part 2 (Dec. 14)

The final season of The Crown continues on Dec. 14, on Netflix.

In the second part of Season 6 of the series, we get to see Prince William (Ed McVey) fall in love with Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy), as the timeline of the show shifts into the 2000s.

Maestro (Dec. 20)

The Oscar buzz is already strong for Bradley Cooper's Maestro, being released in theatres Dec. 1, but it will be available to stream on Netflix Dec. 20.

Cooper portrays composer Leonard Bernstein, in addition to directing and co-writing the film, which focuses on Bernstein's marriage to Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein, played by Carey Mulligan.

Candy Cane Lane (Dec. 1)

Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross star in the new holiday movie Candy Cane Lane, landing on Prime Video Dec. 1.

The Christmas comedy starts with a competitive neighbourhood holiday decorating contest, but things take a more extreme turn when Chris (Murphy) makes a deal with a sneaky elf to try to guarantee his win.

Reacher Season 2 (Dec. 15)

The Prime Video series Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson, is back for Season 2 on Dec. 15.

Based on Lee Child’s 11th book in the best-selling series, the season is set to begin when Jack Reacher (Ritchson) gets a message that members of 110th MP Special Investigations are being murdered, which makes him jump into action to investigate with his former teammates.

What to watch on Disney+: New movies, TV shows

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Dec. 1)

The newest Indiana Jones film, starring Harrison Ford, will be available to stream on Disney+ Dec. 1.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones and Mads Mikkelsen, as Indiana Jones needs to keep his hands on an ancient artifact that could alter the course of history.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians (Dec. 20)

Premiering Dec. 20 on Disney+, Percy Jackson and The Olympians, a series from Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, stars Walker Scobell as the title character.

Percy Jackson is accused by Zeus of stealing his thunderbolt, which sets him off on a time-sensitive journey to stop possible devastating changes to the world.

What to watch on Crave: New movies, TV shows

The O.C. (Dec. 1)

The famed 2000s TV show, created by Josh Schwartz, starring Ben McKenzie, Mischa Barton, Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson, Peter Gallagher and Kelly Rowan, has made the rounds on different streaming sites over the years. Now, it's landed on Crave in Canada, available to watch on Dec. 1.

It's been 20 years since the Orange County-based drama first premiered, but no matter how much time passes, those iconic TV moments are always great to watch. From Chrismukkah, to the Spiderman kiss, all accompanied by great music from Phantom Planet, Rooney, Jet and other great bands.

Nesting (Dec. 22)

A new Crave Original series, Nesting, created by and starring Rosa Labordé (The Spencer Sisters, Sensitive Skin) and Anna Hardwick (Mrs. America, Murdoch Mysteries), will premiere on the streaming platform Dec. 22.

Anna and Rosa (characters loosely inspired by the series creators) are "unlikely best friends" with no house, no baby and no partner, but they have each other. The friends are trying to get pregnant at the same time so they can co-parent their children together in an unconventional family situation.

The Family Plan (Dec. 15)

Action-comedy The Family Plan, starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan, premieres on Apple TV+ Dec. 15.
