SINGAPORE — From this year on, parents in Singapore will be able to use the new online Primary 1 registration portal for all five phases (1, 2A, 2B, 2C and 2C Supplementary).

The was revealed by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Tuesday (23 May) as it announced that the 2023 P1 registration exercise will run from 4 July to 31 October.

The portal - which also contains information on the P1 registration process, eligibility criteria and user guides - will replace the online application form (for Phases 1, 2A, and 2B) and the P1 Internet System (for Phases 2C and 2C Supplementary), and will go live on 4 July.

It can be accessed via the MOE P1 Registration website.

Only one parent with a valid Singpass with 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required to login and submit the registration via the portal. MOE advises parents to set up their Singpass 2FA early and ensure their Singpass account is valid before the commencement of the P1 Registration Exercise.

Parents who require assistance during registration may contact the school of their choice via email or telephone on the respective registration days between 9am to 4.30pm.

Registration for International Students

International students will register under Phase 3 of the P1 registration exercise by submitting an online "indication of interest" form via the MOE P1 registration website, from 9am on 30 May to 4.30pm on 5 June.

School admission at Phase 3 is not guaranteed. MOE will notify the applicants of the results via email by end October.

Previous year’s vacancies and balloting data to be available from this year

Starting this year, MOE will publish vacancies and balloting data from last year’s P1 registration exercise to better support parents in selecting primary schools for their child.

This will include the previous year's available vacancies, registration applicants, and balloting information in the relevant phases for each school.

Parents can also view a list of schools within two kilometres of their residence and check whether these schools were oversubscribed in specific phases during last year’s exercise.

As with previous years, information on the number of available vacancies in each school will be made available on the MOE P1 registration website from mid-June and will be updated during relevant phases.

MOE’s Parents Gateway app

Parents of prospective P1 students can download and register for MOE’s Parents Gateway app on their mobile devices (available on iOS and Android platforms) using their Singpass account.

The app allows parents to access the latest updates and information on the P1 Registration Exercise process and requirements, list down administrative tasks to be done before their child commences school and provide tips on how to support their child’s transition to P1.

MOE would like to encourage parents to prepare early and check the MOE P1 Registration Exercise website for the latest updates.
