Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra announces 3 winter performances

The Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra has announced the following upcoming events.

The Newark-Granville Youth Symphony, which provides music opportunities for the most accomplished young musicians in east central Ohio, is hosting a winter concert at 4 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Reese Center Auditorium on the Ohio State University at Newark campus.

Winter Concert will feature "The Marriage of Figaro (Overture)" by W. A Mozart, "William Tell Overture" by Gioaccino Rossini, "Capriccio Italien" by Peter Tchaikovsy, music from the movie "Apollo 13" by James Horner, and "Mancini Memories" by Henry Mancini.

Admission is free and donations will be accepted at the door.

The next installment of Tunes & Tales, a free monthly concert featuring NGSO musicians, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 at the Licking County Library downtown Newark branch.

This month will also include Denison University student composer Dawson Kimball and feature the book "Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown.

Join the NGSO as they perform dance music from around the world during a March 11 concert at the Midland Theater. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. This special concert will have you dancing in your seats!

The concert will feature "La Conga del Fuego Nuevo" by Arturo Márquez, "Four Scottish Dances, Op. 59" by Malcolm Arnold, "Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo" by Aaron Copland, "The Snow Maiden: Dance of the Tumblers" by Peter Tchaikovsky, "Polovtsian Dances" by Alexander Borodin, "Cuban Overture" by George Gershwin.
