Newark Police arrest two men in connection with Sept. 11 shooting on 11th Street in Newark

NEWARK − Newark Police announced Thursday the arrest of two men and the search for another in connection with the Sept. 11 shooting of two men on North 11th Street in Newark.

Detectives with the Newark Division of Police arrested Eric Z. Hurst, 34, of Lancaster, and Ryan Authement, 32, of New Philadelphia. Detectives are looking for a third suspect, Kyle Mathes, 28, of Lancaster.

The Tuesday arrests came with assistance from the Lancaster Police Department, Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, New Philadelphia Police Department and Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office.

Newark Police officers responded to reports of a shooting about 4:34 p.m. Sept. 11 at 131 N. 11th Street. Officers found two adult males, ages 50 and 35 years, each suffering from single gunshot wounds.

Officers provided aid until firefighter-paramedics arrived. Both victims were taken by helicopter to Columbus area hospitals and are in stable condition, police said.

The department did not release the victims' names.
