Newcomb Cafe Opening In Braintree
BRAINTREE, MA — An eatery with a familiar name is expected to return to the South Shore.
Newcomb Cafe will open in the same space as Montilio's Baking Company and Pizzeria, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
The owners of the new restaurant used to operate Newcomb's Breakfast and Lunch on Broad Street in Weymouth, but the restaurant was destroyed in a fire a few months ago.
The restaurant had been open during the new coronavirus health crisis offering takeout and delivering items ranging from lobster rolls to eggs Benedict. The owners had begun an online ordering system and posted on their Facebook page on April 7: "Going into week 3. Hope all is well. We are still vertical so I guess we are doing o.k."
With the restaurant closed just more than one month later due to the fire, the owners kept their sense of humor in letting customers know they are still doing alright:
"We just want to take the time to say 'Thank You' to everyone who has reached out to us today. We came out of this horrible situation healthy and safe. We would like to thank the community for the love and out pouring of concern and well wishes.
