Newcomerstown in the News: New urgent care facility opens

NEWCOMERSTOWN − Family Urgent Care opened its new facility Sept. 24 at 245 W. State St. (Suite 101), giving area residents a new option for health care.

The Newcomerstown facility joins other Family Urgent Care offices around Ohio, including Coshocton and Chillicothe.

The facility had an open house Sept. 24, and Mansoor Kahn, CEO of AMK Technologies, the company behind Family Urgent Care, said the event was “great."

"We had over 150 people attending," Kahn said. "Patients have already started coming in. Most patients have the sentiment that this will save a lot of time. They don't have to drive to New Philadelphia or Dover and wait an hour to be seen. We can get them in and out in 20 minutes.

“It's also really good for parents. A few parents stopped by to get a doctor’s note when their child was sent back from school. It's convenient that they don't have to drive and wait. The school nurses have started suggesting coming to Family Urgent Care, since it's so close to the schools.”

The facility is another step in local health-related efforts by Jeff Neidig, owner of Medi-Wise Pharmacy, which is the base for both Family Urgent Care and 2nd Family Home Care, which also recently opened in Newcomerstown. Second Family Health Care will be based in Newcomerstown but will service a wide area of east-central Ohio. It will serve senior citizens who would like assistance in their home with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, hygiene assistance, light housekeeping, nutrition care, meal preparation, medication reminders, companionship, and specialized care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients.

Family Urgent Care will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and closed on weekends. For more information, call 740-204-7008.
