Newest Wood-n-Tap Slated to Open Soon In Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — After more than a year and a half of planning and construction, the latest Wood-n-Tap restaurant is scheduled to open in Enfield next week, with a special benefit event kicking off the new location this weekend.

Part of the Hartford Restaurant Group (HRG), the ninth Wood-n-Tap site in the Big Y Plaza on Palomba Drive includes a 7,500-square-foot indoor dining area that seats 220. The site also features an 8,000-square-foot patio with outdoor dining space and a bar area. Like its other locations, the newest establishment will feature a classic American menu including burgers, steaks, salads, pasta, tacos and chicken wings, as well as extensive cocktail, wine and beer choices.

In March 2019, HRG originally announced its intention to renovate space in the north end of the strip plaza, last occupied in 2011 by Royal Buffet. Construction delays primarily brought on by the coronavirus pandemic pushed back the opening until this fall.

"This year has been the toughest anyone can imagine because of COVID and the restrictions in the business," HRG co-owner and co-founder Phil Barnett said. "But we did it, our ninth Wood-n-Tap is set to go."

The restaurant will open to the general public on Nov. 25. However, a special fundraising event benefiting Enfield High School Safe Graduation will take place this Friday and Saturday.

"Our first two nights will benefit something in our new community, the Safe Grad event," Barnett said. "Enfield has welcomed us with open arms, and we are proud to be part of the town. We are more than happy to mark our opening by hosting an event that will benefit the high school this weekend."

The Safe Grad fundraiser offers tables for two to eight, ranging from $80 to $320 per group donation, including food and beverages. Guests must be 21 or over. Tickets are available by visiting https://linktr.ee/enfieldcharity.

Safe Grad committee co-chair Tammy Chaplin said, "We are very grateful. We did not have to go to Wood-n-Tap and ask for this donation. They came to us. In this time of COVID-19, it has been very challenging to raise funds. A lot of big events that were held in the past by other Safe Grad committees couldn’t be held this year. So when Wood-n-Tap contacted us, we were so thankful. We hope Wood-n-Tap has a great turnout this weekend and is very successful in its new location here in Enfield."

"I think we all agree that the high school graduation party is a worthwhile event and we’d like to help hosting this fundraiser," Barnett said. "And beyond that, we look forward to welcoming new and old guests to our new place. We know you’ll like it. We put our heart and soul into this location. Besides just beautiful space and our 'come as you are' philosophy, we are adhering and enforcing all COVID-mandated safety protocol because we want this to be a place people can feel safe and comfortable."
