Newly wed Kherson evacuee cheers Russia retreat
STORY: People cheered and chanted, wrapped in Ukrainian and Kherson flags in front of the renowned Odesa Opera House.
Among them were a newly wed couple, the husband from Odesa and the wife from Kherson, who decided to get married on Saturday after hearing of Kherson's liberation.
Ukrainian social media overflowed with celebratory messages and elation. Businesses and official institutions, from national mail-carrier Ukrposhta to the national anti-corruption office, put images of watermelons on their profiles. The Kherson region is nationally renowned for its watermelons.
