Newport starts search for new city administrator
Newport City Administrator Deb Hill’s last day on the job is Thursday — the same day the Newport City Council meets for the first time in the city’s new city hall.
“It just worked out that way,” said Hill, 64, who has held the top job at the city of 3,900 people since 2013. Prior to that, she was the city’s accountant.
The city of Newport has contracted with David Drown Associates to lead the search for the new city administrator, who is expected to be on the job by mid-October. It will cost $23,000 to conduct the search, Hill said.
Applications are due Aug. 10, and finalists will be selected Sept. 1, according to the job posting. Final interviews will be held on Sept. 20. The salary range is $96,117 to $122,901.
After working in city government for almost 19 years, Hill, who has three children and five grandchildren, says she is ready for “some fun and adventure” and plans to do some traveling.
“I’m really going to miss the staff,” she said Friday.
