Oct. 20—My Pace Mile event set for Sunday

MANKATO — The third annual MY Pace Mile will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the My Place building, 1315 Stadium Road, Mankato.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m. The MY Pace Mile is a casual run, jog or stroll for one mile. After the event, participants can stay and enjoy music, food, door prizes and get a tour of the new MY Place building.

Registration costs $30 for adults and children age 5 and older. To register, visit runreg.com/11748. Proceeds from this event benefit MY Place.

Talk to focus on pot effects on brains

ST. PETER — The Adolescent Chemical Wellness Advocates coalition is hosting a talk by a cannabis researcher to discuss today's high-potency marijuana and its harmful effects on the developing adolescent brain.

Jason Kilmer, an associate professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine, will be featured in a free live webinar noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Event to demystify DNA test services

MANKATO — In celebration of Family History Month, the Blue Earth County Historical Society is holding an event called "DNA Tests for Beginners" to help people navigate the various services that analyze DNA to determine ancestry and family lineage.

This program is 1 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Earth County History Center.

During this free hour-long program, attendees will gain insights into various DNA testing options and learn how each test can unlock secrets of family history.
