Art garage to hold local author book fair

PORT CLINTON - The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is excited to host a local author book fair at The Arts Garage next week.

Froom 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, a handful of local authors will be signing and selling books at TAG. This is the perfect opportunity to meet with area writers and purchase a book or two for that special reader in your life.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit GPCAAC and its mission to foster the arts and artists in Ottawa County. The Arts Garage is in the city's old maintenance garage at 317 W. Perry St.

Head Start centers offering no-cost preschool

FREMONT - Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Early Childhood Centers in Genoa, Perryburg/Rossford, and Port Clinton are seeking students ages 3 to 5 for no-cost preschool opportunities through Head Start.

GLCAP Head Start offers full-day preschool that focuses on kindergarten readiness, socialization, and other important developmental needs for children and families. Snacks and meals are provided. There is no cost to enroll for eligible families.

Bradner legion to host baked steak dinner

BRADNER - On Sunday, Dec. 4, the Bradner American Legion will hold its baked steak dinner at the post, 209 W. Crocker St. Call 419-288-3634 for pick-up orders, or to reserve an order. This is eat in or carry out.

Menu is a baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll, dessert, and a drink. Cost is $10. The post begins serving at 11:30 a.m. and will serve till gone or 1 p.m. There will not be a baked steak dinner in January 2023.

Deadline to select Medicare plan is Dec. 7

COLUMBUS - Ohio Department of Insurance director Judith L. French is reminding Ohioans that the deadline to select Medicare health insurance coverage for 2023 is Dec. 7 at midnight.

Ohioans on Medicare have the option to select Original Medicare, often paired with a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, or a Medicare Advantage managed care plan. Medicare Advantage plans provide comprehensive health insurance benefits typically including prescription drug coverage. Medicare information for 2023 can be found at medicare.gov.

Developmental Disabilities board seeking members

OAK HARBOR - Ottawa County Probate Judge Fredrick C. Hany II is seeking individuals interested in serving on the Ottawa County Board of Developmental Disabilities (OCBDD) Board of Directors. Applicants must be residents of Ottawa County, and U.S. citizens.

Those interested are encouraged to call OCBDD at 567-262-3112 or email bbacak1@ocbdd.org for additional information. The deadline for application is Dec. 12.
