Clyde Council eyes allowing chickens in the city

CLYDE - Clyde City Council will give a first reading Tuesday, April 4, to an ordinance establishing regulations to allow residents to keep chickens in their back yard.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, second floor. Also on the agenda is a resolution for the city manager to enter into an agreement with Designing Local for the creation of a 15-year Revitalization and Placemaking plan. Two resolutions on the agenda also pertain to a Woodland Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project.

Ottawa County Board of Elections closing early Friday

OAK HARBOR - The Ottawa County Board of Elections office will be closed on Friday, April 7, at 1 p.m. in observance of Good Friday. Normal office hours will resume on April 10.

Plasterbed Road closed due to underground issues

OAK HARBOR - Plasterbed Road from Lockwood Road north to the railroad tracks is closed due to underground mine issues. This portion of Plasterbed Road will remain closed until the subsidence issues can be resolved, according to a release from the Ottawa County Engineer's Office. At this time the engineer's office is unable to predict when repairs will be completed and the road is closed until further notice.

Magruder Foundation hosting Plant Forward Fundraising Dinner

PORT CLINTON The Magruder Hospital Foundation is hosting a Plant Forward Fundraising Dinner on April 26 at the Catawba Island Club. Guests will arrive at 6 p.m. to a choice of a mocktail or cocktail. This will be followed by a six-course plated plant forward meal created by the CIC Culinary team at 6:30 p.m. The Magruder Nutrition team will join us to share their knowledge.

Mocktail ticket price is $125. Cocktail ticket price (arrival cocktail and two wine pairings) is $150. Tickets can be purchased by emailing Michele Mueller at mmueller@magruderhospital.com, calling 419-734-3131 or online: magruderhospitalfoundation.eventbrite.com.

Trinity planning for Easter week events

FREMONT - Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Court and Wayne streets, will host an Easter Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. April 9 in the Fellowship Hall.  The menu will include homemade egg casserole, fruit, coffee cake, doughnuts and beverage. Donations for the meal will be welcome. The morning worship service begins at 10:15 a.m. and is open to all who may wish to attend.  A service will also take place at 7:30 p.m. April 6, Maundy Thursday and the church will be open on Good Friday, noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. for The Way of the Cross, an opportunity to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice.
