Clyde, Oak Harbor high school Jazz bands to perform Sunday

CLYDE - A Jazz Showcase, featuring six bands, will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Clyde High School auditorium.

The bands are Clyde High School Jaz Band, Oak Harbor High School Jazz Band and 419 Big Band as well as three other area high school bands −Tiffin, Hopewell-Loudon and Mohawk.

The concert is open to the public and is free.

Lakeside-Marblehead veterans invited for benefit review

LAKESIDE-MARBLEHEAD - Lakeside-Marblehead veterans are invited to a VA benefit briefing with a focus on VA pensions. An Ottawa County Veterans Service officer will be on hand to review the benefit and answer questions.

Due to limited space, this event is only for veterans. The briefing will be held 10-11 a.m. April 19 at the Marblehead Public Library. A light snack will be available. Other briefings will be held throughout the county each month. To make a reservation call the Ottawa County Veterans Service Office at 419-898-2089.

Terra State's Computer Information System Program validated

FREMONT − Terra State Community College’s programs to educate and train the nation’s IT and cybersecurity workforce have been recognized by the National Security Agency (NSA) and a committee of academic peers.

Terra State announced its Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Systems has earned a Program of Study Validation through academic year 2028 from the NSA.

“It’s rewarding to know that Terra’s work to prepare our students for the constantly evolving field of computer systems and the strength of our associate’s degree in the real world continues to be recognized,” said Haley Crabtree, an associate professor who oversees the computer systems degree program.

The NAS validation is part of the National Cyber Strategy 2018, which was established to address the need for professionals with cybersecurity skills. It highlights the importance of higher education as a solution to defending America’s cyberspace.
