Sandusky County Fair kicks off Monday

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Fair opens a day earlier in 2022, at 9 a.m. Monday. While there will be no rides on the first day of the fair; gate price is reduced to $5 that day. Various entries must be made Monday for judging later in the week. The Grand Opening is set for 3 p.m. with the Fremont Exchange Club, and the evening will be topped off with the Fremont Speedway Fair Races at the Grandstand, with admission at $7.

Another change for the fair is it will close at 6 p.m. Aug. 28, with animals being released at that time. For a complete list of events visit Sandusky County Fairgrounds Fremont, Ohio.

Lakeside to host annual antique show

LAKESIDE — Lakeside Chautauqua will host its 61st annual Antique Show 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. More than 85 dealers will display antiques in Wesley Lodge, South Auditorium, Wo-Ho-Mis Lodge and outdoors in Lakeside.

Featured items include furniture, glassware, quilts, fine and costume jewelry, ladies’ accessories, kitchen supplies, sports memorabilia, books, postcards, area souvenirs, linens, vintage clothing, dolls, sterling and more. Buying is not permitted before 9 a.m.

Admission to the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds for the Antique Show is $8 per person, which includes an Auto Pass and is valid for four hours. This pass does not include admission to the Hoover Auditorium show that evening or the Grindley Aquaticand& Wellness Campus pool.

Fremont school board moves meeting

FREMONT — The Fremont City Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Fremont Ross High School Performing Arts Center, 110 North St.

Public invited to OCHS Picnic on Aug. 24

MARBLEHEAD — The Ottawa County Historical Society’s annual picnic Aug. 24 is open to the public this year. The event held at the Wolcott Keeper’s House, 9999 East Bayshore Road, begins at 5:30 p.m.. Visitors are asked to take a favorite potluck dish to share, and plates and utensils.  Ham and iced tea and lemonade will be provided, and extra table service will be available.
