County grant seekers to meet July 21

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Communities Foundation has announced the 2022 Community Grant Program.  The Grant Seekers meeting will be 10 a.m. July 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce Conference Room. Seating is limited to one person per organization.

Preregister for this meeting by emailing director@sanduskyccf.org.

Eligible applicants are required to attend the meeting and applications are available at sanduskyccf.org.  Applicants must be nonprofit, charitable organizations designated with a 501(c)(3) status or governmental agencies and political subdivisions. Grants must serve Sandusky County residents.

The Foundation encourages proposals for projects that enhance cooperation and collaboration among Sandusky County organizations, strengthen an organization’s capacity to serve the community, leverage other resources, yield substantial community benefits, and serve a broad segment of the community.  Youth driven service projects are encouraged to apply through Building Community Together, the youth division of the Sandusky County Communities Foundation and must also attend this meeting.

Fremont Lions to meet Tuesday

FREMONT — The Fremont Lions Club will meet at noon Tuesday at the Fremont Eagles Hall.

The speaker is John Courtney from Perrysburg who will share the work he is doing on the property on Cleveland Avenue near Siler Street. The property was once known as the Sipsma Celery Garden. Members and guests are welcome to attend. For more information call Donna Thatcher, president, at 419-332-3095.

Friends of Ottawa County Parks to hold orientation programs

PORT CLINTON —  The nonprofit organization Friends of Ottawa County Parks has been established in order to support volunteer efforts and initiatives set forth by the Park District of Ottawa County.

This organization will hold orientation programs throughout Ottawa County: July 14 at the Marblehead Peninsula Library, July 27 at the Elmore Community Center, and July 28 at the Catawba Island Club, all from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to attend and preregistration is not required. Orientations will include a presentation and light refreshments. Membership forms will be available to complete at the orientation programs.

Health board to meet Friday

FREMONT - The Sandusky County Board of Health will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday July 15 at 2000 Countryside Drive. Reports will include an update on food service operations and unlicensed body art activities as well as re-accreditation and water main break repairs.

Gibsonburg to host Big Lemonade Stand

GIBSONBURG — Consider visiting Gibsonburg between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 22 for the The Great Big Gibsonburg Lemonade Stand at the Logyard.

One giant Lemonade Stand is open to all young businessmen and businesswomen in the community to set up shop with their lemonade, Kool Aid, baked goods, arts and crafts or produce to sell or fundraise.

There is no charge to participate, but tables under the tent must be reserved by noon July 20. Limited electricity will be provided. Cookout lunch will be provided to all participants.
