Farmers market to include 'Things That Go'

FREMONT - The Downtown Fremont Farmers Market and Things That Go Event will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 19. The free event will include vendors of every variety, live entertainment, treats and a little something fun.

This event will feature bikes, a dump truck, kayaks, a tow truck, a boat, an excavator, garbage truck and much more. Restaurants and other food vendors will be open. For more information, visit  www.downtownfremontohio.org.

Matthew Ball to perform at Lakeside Gazebo concert

LAKESIDE - A family-friendly music event will be held as an outdoor lawn concert at the gazebo from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27 with Matthew Ball, The Boogie Woogie Kid.

Patrons should bring lawn chairs Music will include songs such as "In the Mood," "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" and "It Had to be You."

St. John to host community party in Oak Harbor

OAK HARBOR - St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a special outdoor Summer-Start of School Year Community Party from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 at 122 W. Ottawa St. The event is free and public. There will be several inflatables, carnival-type table games, food, Kona Ice, giveaways and more.

Diabetic support group to meet Tuesday

BELLEVUE - The Bellevue Hospital’s diabetes support group will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the East Conference Room, inside the 1400 W. Main St. facility.

The support group is free and open to the public. Topics for monthly meetings are generated by ideas from people who attend the programs and group discussion, but often include information regarding diet, exercise, medication management and diabetes monitoring. The group normally meets on the third Tuesday of each month.

Fundraising program planned on Middle Bass Island

MIDDLE BASS ISLAND - The Ohio State Parks Foundation will celebrate the “Magic of Middle Bass” at a special fundraising event from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 19. The festive program will be at the historic and scenic Lonz Winery grounds at Middle Bass Island State Park. It will take a look at the past, present and future of the island, including insights on early Ohio wine pioneer George Lonz and the vision for the Lonz Mansion renovation. The celebration includes an insightful guided conversation with local experts, wines of the region, hors d’oeuvres and live music.

Arts council to host Monday event

PORT CLINTON - The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council's next “Evening Out with Art” program will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at The Arts Garage (TAG.) Brian Shifflet will lead a discussion titled “The Language of Flowers."

This free program on floriography will talk about floral arrangements through time and what they meant to the receiver. The Arts Garage is at 317 W. Perry St.
