Fisk Jubilee Singers to perform at Grace Lutheran

FREMONT- The Fisk Jubiliee Singers from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee will perform at 3 p.m. April 2 in Fremont as part of President Rutherford B. Hayes’ 200th Birthday Celebration.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers will give a public concert at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State St. The Hayes Presidential Library and Museums is bringing the group to Fremont as one of the major events in the on-going commemoration of President Hayes’ 200th birthday, which was Oct. 4, 2022.

Light refreshments will be served after the performance. Tickets are $10 for ages 18 and older, $5 for ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and younger. Tickets are available at rbhayes.org/fisk.

Pinochle Card Club names winners

FREMONT - The Pinochle Card Club February winners are. First place. Suann Cunningham and Jean Foos, 768 points; second place, Jan Hazen and Barb Kocsis, 738 points.

Allen-Clay fire district board calls special meeting

GENOA - The Allen-Clay Joint Fire District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. March 15 at the district’s administrative offices, 3155 N. Genoa-Clay Center Road. The purpose of the meeting is to consider an employee’s appeal of discipline. The board will not take public comment or questions.

Terra launces business resource center

FREMONT - Small businesses and start-ups in Sandusky, Seneca, Ottawa, Erie and Huron counties have a new local resource for discovering training, mentoring and business and workforce development resources that will help them gain knowledge and skills essential to starting or expanding a business.

The Business Resource Center, located in the Kern Center at Terra State Community College, will serve as a one-stop resource and call center to connect new and existing small businesses within the community with assets, training and mentors.

The BRC works in collaboration with area chambers of commerce, economic and workforce development agencies.

The BRC will work with the five partnering counties (Sandusky, Seneca, Ottawa, Erie and Huron) to inform their local business communities about the BRC call center and its schedule of programs. The BRC’s goal is to make area businesses more aware of the training and mentoring resources available to them.
