Frank Weasner hired as Clyde Finance Director
CLYDE — Clyde City Council approved hiring Frank Weasner, of Clyde, as the city's new finance director at its May 17 meeting.
City Manager Justin LaBenne reported that the city received a $215,000 grant from the Transportation Alternatives Program to make pedestrian improvements on Maple Street and the work is scheduled with the Ohio Department of Transportation for Fiscal Year 2025.
LaBenne also reported the Paden Lane project is awaiting a grant from Clydescope Economic Development Corporation for masonry and painting work to be completed. A mural will be painted as part of the project.
BCS to break ground for new school
OAK HARBOR — Benton-Carroll Salem School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Oak Harbor Intermediate School at 2 p.m. June 2 behind R.C. Waters Elementary School. The community is invited to attend. The new school will house grades four to six when completed.
Fremont to begin flushing hydrants
FREMONT — The City Water and Sewer Department will be continuing its annual fire hydrant flow testing/flushing program in the southeast quadrant of Fremont moving to the northeast.
The process will take approximately four to six weeks weeks to complete each half of the city and is set to begin Monday. Fire hydrant flow testing/flushing programs are required to assure that an adequate supply of safe, quality water is available for consumer use and an adequate quantity of water is available for fire protection.
The testing identifies specific areas of the city’s water distribution system requiring repairs and upgrades concerning water quantity and quality. Customers may experience temporary low pressure and/or discoloration of water. Customers experiencing persistent problems may contact the Water and Sewer Maintenance Department at 419-332-3181.
Veteran Hall of Fame nominees sought
COLUMBUS — The deadline for submitting nominations for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is three weeks away and nominations are sought from those who know former service members who are excelling and making a difference in society.
The Hall of Fame recognizes those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and continue to contribute to our communities, state, and nation through exceptional acts of volunteerism, advocacy, professional distinction, public service or philanthropy. The deadline to submit nomination forms for consideration for the 2022 class of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is June 1. Guidelines, a sample nomination and more information are available at the Hall of Fame Nomination page at dvs.ohio.gov/hall-of-fame.
