News briefs: Hearing scheduled for Circleville Solar transmission line

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a local public hearing regarding Circleville Solar, LLC’s proposal to construct a 3.6-mile, 138 kilovolt (kV) transmission line to connect the proposed Circleville Solar Project generation facility to an existing 138 kV substation in the city of Circleville.

The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 25, at Circleville High School, 380 Clark Drive, Circleville.

The purpose of the local public hearing is to allow individuals to provide sworn testimony regarding the proposed transmission line. Testimony will be limited to five minutes per witness, and the hearing transcript will become part of the case record considered by the OPSB.

Witnesses will register when they arrive at the hearing and will testify in the order in which they register. If a witness wishes to supplement their testimony with an exhibit, a copy of the document should be provided to the administrative law judge during the hearing.

The evidentiary hearing is scheduled for May 23, 2023 at 10 a.m., at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 E. Broad St., 11th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215. During the evidentiary hearing, the applicant, OPSB staff, and intervening parties will provide expert testimony and evidence regarding the proposed

Statehood Day Celebration

CHILLICOTHE – The Chillicothe Kiwanis Club and Ross County Ministerial Association will be hosting their annual Ohio Statehood Day Prayer Celebration at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4.

The event will be hosted at the First Presbyterian Church of Chillicothe located at 13 Mead Drive. This will be the 57th year for the event and will celebrate Ohio’s 220th anniversary.

The Chillicothe Kiwanis Club and Ross County Ministerial Association has been co-hosting this event since 1967 to commemorate the founding and beginning of the State of Ohio.

Tickets to the Ohio Statehood Day Prayer Celebration can be purchased at the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau at 230 N. Plaza Blvd during office hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch). Cost is $12 per ticket and is limited to 100 attendees. Please make sure to obtain your tickets soon as this event fills up quickly.

The celebration features a continental breakfast prepared by the Huntington School Culinary Fundamentals Class and is included in the ticket cost. There will be several presenters and speakers during the event including Ohio Representative Mark Johnson who will present the Statehood Day Address. Additionally, the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club will present the Statehood Day Achievement Award to a deserving community member.

CHILLICOTHE - The Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with ECDI’s Women’s Business Centers of Central Appalachia, are pleased to offer Business Finance 101. This workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 11:30 am to 1 pm, at the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce (45 E. Main Street).

Join us for this back-to-basics workshop with Chris Smalley, Director of Lending of Appalachia, and learn key financial terms, business plan basics, basic financial forms, and business lending tips. This workshop is great for anyone just starting out in business as well as the seasoned business owner.
