Humane Society to hold yard sale

PORT CLINTON - The Humane Society of Ottawa County is having a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the shelter, 2424 E. Sand Road. All types of items will be available, including children's toys, furniture, kitchenware, home decorations, sporting goods, and household items. No items are priced. Donations will be accepted for all items.

All proceeds from the yard sale benefits the Humane Society of Ottawa County. If there are any questions, contact the shelter at 419-734-5191.

MS Society to offer local support group

FREMONT - The National MS Society along with WalkMS Fremont will offer a support group which will meet monthly starting in September.  The first meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Sandusky County YMCA on North Street. The group will continue to meet on the second Monday of each month and is open to all people with MS, their families and their caregivers.

Teen theater to present 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'

FREMONT - Fremont Community Teen Theatre’s 2023 summer show, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," opens Friday. Co-directors are Delilah Foos Lessing and Sarah Stamm.

Mary Miller is vocal music director and Jeff Buchanan is the orchestral director with a live pit orchestra.

The show has teen members from all over Northwest Ohio. Performance dates are 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are adults $15; seniors and military are $13 and students 18 and under are $8.

Mike Gilbert to be featured at historical society meeting

FREMONT - Local historian Mike Gilbert will present a program titled, “History of Local Indians” as the second in a series of presentations at the Sandusky County Historical Society museum at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Gilbert has presented a very popular series of programs for years at the Rutherford B. Hayes Museums and Library.

Attendance for the program will be limited to 50 people because of space. There will be an admission charge of $5 for nonmembers, with society members admitted free. The Historical Society museum, located at 514 Birchard Ave., is hosting a program each month during the summer. The series opened with a program on the Sandusky River conducted by local historian Larry Michael and will conclude in August with a program on “Tecumseh” by living history portrayer Kenneth Hammontree.

The museum, which is opened on Wednesday afternoons through mid-November except during fair week, is at 514 Birchard Ave., just off of Park Avenue.
