Humane Society seeks craft donations for fundraiser

PORT CLINTON — The Humane Society of Ottawa County is seeking donations of homemade crafts for an upcoming fundraiser. Fall seasonal and related items would be appreciated. Donated items can be dropped off at the shelter from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday , noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Donations can be dropped off now through Sept. 21.

Gibsonburg school board to meet Aug. 15

GIBSONBURG — The Gibsonburg Exempted Village School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the board of education room at Hilfiker Elementary School, 301 S. Sunset. A work session will follow the regular meeting.

Pancake breakfast to support Ford Aircraft restoration

PORT CLINTON — EAA Tin Goose Chapter 1247 is holding its annual "Restore the Ford" Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 14, inside the main hangar at Liberty Aviation Museum, 3515 E. State Road.

This event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 100% of the proceeds will be used toward the ongoing restoration of its 1929 Ford Tri-Motor aircraft, which can be seen up close for those who tour the museum.

Breakfast includes coffee, orange juice, sausage and all-you-can-eat pancakes. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Age 5 and under are free. There also will be a 50/50 raffle, Ford Tri-Motor souvenirs and, weather permitting, "Young Eagle" introductory airplane rides for youth ages 8 to 17.

These airplane rides are free and are provided by EAA volunteers who donate their time and aircraft in order to introduce a new generation to the world of aviation. For questions or more information, email tingoose1247@gmail.com.

Peach Dessert Social set in Danbury Township

DANBURY TOWNSHIP — The women of St. John and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakeside-Marblehead, 541 South Church Road, will old their annual Peach Dessert Social from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the fellowship hall.

In addition to homemade peach pies and other desserts, there will be sliced peaches, ice cream, hot dogs, chips and beverages.
