Lakeside Chautauqua offers free Ottawa County Day on Thursday

LAKESAIDE - Lakeside Chautauqua welcomes Ottawa County and Kelleys Island residents for free admission to the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra and Dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 27.

Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Daniel Meyer, the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra (LSO) opens its summer concert series at 7 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium.

Prior to the concert, all are invited to join the musicians in the lobby to play and learn more about the various instruments with an "instrument petting zoo."

More than 80 musicians from across the country are members of the symphony, many of whom have devoted years of service to Lakeside. This summer brings a series of LSO performances for all ages with talented guest artists.

Ottawa County residents and Kelleys Island residents can obtain a free admission and auto pass to enter the grounds by showing a driver’s license at the Fifth Street or South Gate Entrance. Gate Ambassadors will provide attendees with an admission pass for the symphony performance and entrance at 5 p.m.

Governor dedicates fish-cleaning station

LAKESIDE-MARBLEHEAD – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources joined Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine to dedicate a new fish cleaning station at the Mazurik Fishing Access in Lakeside-Marblehead on Wednesday. The new facility was installed and is managed by the ODNR Division of Wildlife to serve the thousands of anglers who catch walleye, yellow perch, bass, and more off the coast of Lake Erie.

The cleaning station at the ODNR Division of Wildlife Mazurik Fishing Access provides ample counter space for anglers to cut and filet their fish, running water to clean their catch, and a grinder that disposes of the remains.

Wall that Heals to be accompanied by procession on Aug. 29

GIBSONBURG - The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will stop in Gibsonburg on its 2023 National Tour.

It will be escorted to Williams Park in Gibsonburg on Aug. 29 in a procession that will include police, fire and military veterans motorcycle groups. The procession will leave the Target parking lot on U.S. 20 in Rossford and travel east on U.S. 20 towards Gibsonburg and Sandusky County.

The procession will turn right off of U.S. 20 onto Anderson Road just outside of Woodville, left onto Ohio 600, through the center of Gibsonburg and left onto Ohio 300 where it will make its way to the display site in Williams Park.

The procession is slated to leave the Target lot at 1 p.m. and arrive in Williams Park at 1:45 p.m.
