News briefs: Lancaster Band Boosters yard sale this weekend

LANCASTER – As the Lancaster Marching Band prepares to enter its 101st year of delighting local audiences, the Lancaster Bands and its students need the support of its community.

One way you can help is through the upcoming Lancaster Band Boosters yard sale – by either donating items to the sale or purchasing items from the sale.

“100% of the money raised by the Lancaster Band Boosters goes directly to supplement the Lancaster City Schools band programs,” said Lancaster Director of Instrumental Music Ben Factor. “Your donations provide our students with assistant instructors, mini music camps, uniforms and uniform maintenance, equipment, vehicles, contest fees, special events, and more.”

The yard sale will be held on July 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Elementary School, 712 N. Broad Street. Donations will be accepted at Mount Pleasant from 6 to 8 p.m. July 8.

“By supporting our $40,000 annual budget, you are directly supporting the growth and development of our music program students in grades 6-12,” said Factor.

“This is a great way to kill two birds with one stone,” said Band Boosters Fundraising Chair Valerie Neal. “You can clean out your closet and know that the money generated is going directly toward supporting students in the Lancaster Bands.”
