Magruder Foundation to hold Grapes and Grains Event

PORT CLINTON - The Magruder Hospital Foundation will present Grapes and Grains — A celebration of Food and Spirits, on Oct. 5 at Gideon Owen.  The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and music will be provided by Trez Gregory.

Enjoy dinner stations with specially selected food pairings created by the Gideon Owen culinary team, which will be matched with beverages from Gideon Owen Wine Company, The Orchard, Twin Oast Brewing, The Gristmill and Everwild Spirits.

Proceeds from the event will assist the Magruder Hospital Foundation in supporting Magruder Hospital and its mission of Improving Lives Together. Cost for the event is $75 for an individual or $125 for a pair of individuals. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available online at magruderhospitalfoundation.eventbrite.com   Attendees must be 21 years of age.

Oak Harbor seeks band alumni for Sept. 8 performance

OAK HARBOR - The Oak Harbor High School Marching Band invites all Oak Harbor Band Alumni to join members for this year's Alumni Band. See old classmates, and perform on the field “one more time.” The date of the performance is Sept. 8 for the Oak Harbor vs. Maumee football game.

River of Living Water to lead community school prayer

FREMONT - Rivers of Living Water is assembling a Community School Prayer for 9 a.m. Aug. 26. Members would like to have prayer at each local building site before this school year begins. Organizers are hoping each church will have representation at this prayer time. The group will begin by meeting at the Ross High School parking lot off of North Street. There will be a short prayer there, and the group will then go to each school for prayer.

Playmakers to offer class for young actors

PORT CLINTON - Playmakers Civic Theatre will hold “3-2-1, You’re On! — Education Classes this September” on Saturdays, Sept. 9, 16, 23, and 30.

This is a unique theatre workshop series tailored for students in Grades 4 through 8. The class is free for Ottawa County residents. Call 419-734-5033 to register or go to pcplaymakers.org.

The class will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes lunch. On Sept. 30, the students will showcase short plays. The class is funded by the Ottawa County Community Foundation.
