Magruder monthly community lab screenings are July 13

PORT CLINTON - Magruder’s next monthly community lab screening will be 8 to 11:30 a.m. July 13 at the Magruder Community Clinic 730 Jefferson St.

The main lab test is a CBC, CMP and Lipid Profile, which includes liver and kidney function, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, HDL/LDL, Triglycerides and a complete blood count (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the blood) for $50.

Magruder also offers add-ons that you can add to the testing above, or request on their own: Lipid Profile: $20; Hemoglobin A1C: $20; PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen): $30; TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): $25; and Vitamin D: $35.

This lab screening is held on the second Thursday each month. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 419-301-4304. Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their appointment time but can have water. No insurance accepted — payment can be made by cash, check or credit card.

Kin Hunters to meet Sunday

FREMONT - Kin Hunters of Sandusky County will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the Sandusky Township House, 2207 Oak Harbor Road. The officers will meet at 1:15 p.m. For the membership meeting, local historian, Mike Gilbert, will be the featured speaker as he shares his program on the Great Black Swamp.  As a result of the swamp, Northwest Ohio was the last section to be settled in Ohio. He will share some of the hardships faced by the early settlers and their attempts to control the environment. Visitors are welcome.

Angie Lipstraw named elementary, middle school principal

OAK HARBOR - The Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools Board of Education met for a Special Meeting on June 27 and voted to approve a new leadership team for grades kindergarten through sixth at both R.C. Waters Elementary School, and Oak Harbor Middle School.

Angie Lipstraw will serve as the K-to-6 Principal. She began her service to BCS as a second-grade teacher in 2004.  In 2015, she moved into the assistant principal role at R.C. Waters Elementary School, and helped to lead a variety of initiatives involving curriculum, technology, and interventions to help all students succeed.

Clyde City has open board, commission seats

CLYDE - The City of Clyde has openings on several boards and commissions. All are volunteer positions.

The open positions include Board of Zoning Appeals, five-year term, one vacancy; Civil Service Commission, six-year, one vacancy; Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council, three-year term, one vacancy; Fair Board, five-year term, nine vacancies; and Landscape Committee/Street Tree Commission, five-year term, four vacancies.
