Magruder offers monthly community lab screening

PORT CLINTON - Magruder’s next monthly community lab screening will be 8 to 11:30 a.m. May 11 at the Magruder Community Clinic, 730 Jefferson St.

The main lab test is a CBC, CMP and Lipid Profile, which includes liver and kidney function, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, HDL/LDL, Triglycerides and a complete blood count (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the blood) for $50.

The clinic also offers add-ons to the testing above, or request on their own:

  • Lipid Profile: $20

  • Hemoglobin A1C: $20

  • PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen): $30

  • TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): $25

  • Vitamin D: $35

This lab screening is held on the second Thursday each month. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 419-301-4304.  Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their appointment time but can have water.  No insurance accepted — payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (no American Express).

Board of election to meet on May 2

OAK HARBOR - The Ottawa County Board of Elections is meeting at 3 p.m. May 2 for a regular board meeting and to address any other business that comes before the board.  The meeting will be held at the Board of Elections office, 8444 W. Ohio 163 in the Veterans Memorial Building.

Toledo Opera on Wheels to perform in Port Clinton

PORT CLINTON - Each year Toledo Opera’s Residence Artists go on the road, bringing the experience of opera to children in grades kindergarten through sixth at elementary schools in northwestern Ohio and southeastern Michigan.

The program is called Toledo Opera on Wheels, and at 7 p.m. May 11 adults will also have the opportunity to attend the performance by four singers and a pianist of The Pirates of Penzance, the 2022-2023 season production.  It will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St.

The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is presenting the 40-minute production at no charge and invites the public to attend.

VFW Post 2947 to host Veteran Resource Fair

FREMONT - A Veterans Resource Fair will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. May 6 at the VFW Post 2947, 204 Birchard Ave. Venterans and veterans' spouses are invited to meet with providers associated with veteran services and benefits, support agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Providers who would like to attend may register at 567-938-8012.
