Moms get free admission at Hayes on Mother’s Day

FREMONT — All moms will receive free admission to the Hayes Presidential Library and Museums and a free Hayes Home poster on Sunday for Mother’s Day.

The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. The first tour of the Hayes Home is at 1 p.m., and the last tour is at 4 p.m. The research library is closed on Sundays.

Moms and their families can come to the museum front desk on Sunday, and check in with the receptionist. Those who would like to make advance reservations can call 419-332-2081. The free admission is for moms only, and the offer is good on Sunday, May 8, only.

Legion to host Mother's Day dinner

OAK HARBOR — Oak Harbor American Legion Post 114, 221 Park St., will be honoring mothers and their families with a turkey dinner with all the trimmings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mother's Day, May 8, for $15 per dinner. The public is welcome, available for dine in or carryout.

BCS school board calls special meeting

OAK HARBOR — The Benton-Carroll-Salem School District will hold a special board meeting at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The next regular board meeting will be 4:30 p.m. May 12. Retirees will be honored at the beginning of the meeting. Both of the meetings will be held in the board of education office, 11685 W. Ohio 163.

Drug Task Force honors Sgt. Jacob Scully

FREMONT — On April 26, the Sandusky County Drug Task Force awarded Sgt. Jacob Scully from the Fremont Police Department the 2021 Task Force Interdiction Officer of the Year. The hard work and dedication exhibited by Scully led to numerous arrests and drugs being removed from the streets of Sandusky County. The Sandusky County Drug Task Force would like to say thank you to Scully and the entire law enforcement community for their assistance with helping rid our communities of the plague of drug dealers.

The Sandusky County Drug Task Force is a collaborative group with precipitation of the Sandusky County Prosecutors Office, the Sandusky County Sheriff’s office, the Sandusky County Parks, the City of Bellevue Police Department, the City of Clyde Police Department, the City of Fremont Police Department, the Village of Gibsonburg Police Department, the Village of Green Springs Police Department, the Village of Woodville Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Scouts to hold paper drive this weekend

FREMONT — St. Ann's Scout Troop 339 will hold a magazine and newspaper drive Saturday and Sunday at St. Ann's Church parking lot, West State Street at Rawson Ave.

The Scouts will be loading the newspapers and magazines from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. until noon Sunday. Magazines must be kept separate from the newspapers.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from all their paper drives this year will again be donated to Food for the Poor.

Any boy between the ages of 11 and 17 interested in joining the troop may call Denny Setzler, Scoutmaster, at 419-332-2318.
