Oct. 10 is deadline to register to vote for general election

COLUMBUS - Ohio’s county boards of elections have begun distributing ballots to active-duty military and overseas voters, officially opening the Nov. 7 general election.

The deadline for Ohioans to register to vote is Oct. 10 and early voting begins Oct. 11.

“I would like to thank all of the servicemen and servicewomen who are defending our interests overseas. Despite serving our nation on foreign soil, they remain highly engaged in our elections, and beginning today they will be exercising the very rights they defend and impacting the communities they’ll return to,” said Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. “We pray for their safe return and we are proud that they remain engaged in our democratic process. Friends and families of Ohioans who are also serving or working abroad, it's time for you to cast a ballot. Visit MilitaryVotes.Ohio.Gov."

EV charging stations added along turnpike

BEREA - The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has added electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the 241-mile toll road. The Ohio Turnpike’s EV charging infrastructure — which was established through a public-private partnership —currently includes 64 Tesla Supercharger units and 16 Electrify America charging units at eight service plazas.Providing EV owners with publicly accessible and convenient EV fast chargers at numerous service plazas on the Ohio Turnpike reduces range anxiety by enabling our toll customers to take longer road trips. As sales of EVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) continue to increase, turnpike officials will consider options for expansion. Their goal is to have EV charging stations at all 14 service plazas.
