Ottawa County wellness fair set for Sept. 10

PORT CLINTON - Firelands Forward is a regional work force development collaborative that services Ottawa, Erie and Huron Counties. Their mission is to drive economic growth in the Firelands Region through connecting, retaining and attracting talent to the Firelands region.

Organized by Firelands Forward's Employer Resource Network, multiple community organizations willparticipate in the upcoming Regional Employee Wellness Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 10 at theGary Anderson Marksmanship Building at Camp Perry.

Port Clinton school board reschedules meeting

PORT CLINTON — The Port Clinton City School District Board of Education has rescheduled its regular Sept. 26 meeting to 7 a.m. Sept. 23 in the board office, 811 S. Jefferson St.

Grub'n Suds Bike Rally coming to Elmore

ELMORE - The 25th annual Grub 'n Suds Bike Rally will take place 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 10 at Depot Park in Elmore. The event is sponsored by the Elmore Historical Society and A.B.A.T.E.

This year's event features a poker run, live bands all day, a bike show and judging contest, vendors, great food and ice-cold beer.

Josh Boyd and the VIP Band will play 1-4:15 p.m. and Johnny Reed and the Houserockers will follow 4:30-8 p.m.

The 2022 Grub 'n Suds also features fresh homemade French fries, hamburgers, hotdogs, coney dogs, sausage bites, beans, coleslaw, beverages and fresh baked pie.

Magruder Hospital Auxiliary hosts Trunk Show Fundraiser

PORT CLINTON —The Magruder Hospital Auxiliary will host a trunk show fundraiser at the Port Clinton Yacht Club on 1:30-4 p.m. Sept. 18. Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary’s many projects that they do in the hospital and in the community.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at Mary’s Blossom Shoppe or online at https://www.magruderhospitalauxiliary.eventbrite.com.

Ohio State Patrol conduct checkpoint in Port Clinton

PORT CLINTON — On Aug. 26, the Ohio State Patrol initiated an OVI checkpoint funded by federal grant funds. It was conducted on Perry Street near Buckeye Boulevard. The Port Clinton Police Department and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office also supplied officers, working side by side with OSHP officers, in cooperation for safety of motorists traveling throughout the area.

During the two hour operation, 636 cars passed through the checkpoint.  Drivers were delayed about 20 seconds while officers conversed with the motorists.  Eight motorists were diverted for additional investigation. Two of the eight who were diverted, were arrested and charged with OVI.  One driver was charged for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
