Put-in-Bay Airport to receive $145,060 grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-OH, announced that the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded four Airport Improvement Program grants totaling $1,091,386 to four airports in Northwest Ohio.

Put-in-Bay Airport will receive $145,060 to reconstruct a terminal building and acquire snow removal equipment. The other airports receiving funds are in Findlay, Fostoria and Wyandot County.

Community Bible School slated in Woodville

WOODVILLE - Woodville United Methodist Church will hold a Community Bible School for children through adults from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays, July 9, July 16, July 23 and July 30. A light lunch will be served at 11 a.m.

Ottawa County Genealogical Society to meet June 20

PORT CLINTON - The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will be meeting on June 20 at the Port Clinton Public Library at 5:30pm. The speaker will be Henry Stobbs and his program will be “The Conundrum of Two Henry’s”. The public is s welcome to attend.

Dinosaur Takeover begins at African Safari Wildlife Park

PORT CLINTON - More than 20 life-sized dinosaurs have moved into African Safari Wildlife Park. The prehistoric beasts — which include raptors, Triceratops, Stegosaurus and a 48-foot-long T. rex — have taken up residence throughout the Park’s Walk-Thru Safari as part of Dinosaur Takeover.

Dinosaur Takeover, which is included with general park admission, runs through Sept. 4. For more information, visit africansafariwildlifepark.com/dinosaurs.

Humane society planning yard sale

PORT CLINTON - The Humane Society of Ottawa County is in need of donated items for its upcoming yard sale.

The yard sale will be held on July 14 and July 15 at the shelter, 2424 E. Sand Road.

Items to be donated can be dropped off at the shelter during office hours: Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No televisions or books will be accepted.

Gibsonburg to host the Donut Mile race

GIBSONBURG - The Gibsonburg Donut Mile will be 6 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Williams Park, East Stone Street. Entry fee is $20 race day. Race day registration begins at 5 p.m. at the park enclosed shelter house.

The course is a timed one-mile run or walk around the one-third mile path at the Williams Park Quarry. Then eat a donut, run a lap, eat a donut, run a lap, and continue until the race's end. Awards will be awarded to youths under 18, adult women and men. Award will be presented for best "Donut Costumes." Fore more information contact Marc Glotzbecker at 419-637-2634.
