Fremont Ross to hold Veterans Day Assembly

FREMONT — The Leadership Class at Ross High School is hosting a Veterans Day Assembly. Those currently in the service or who are military veterans are invited to attended the assembly at Fremont Ross on Thursday.

The reception breakfast begins at 9:15 a.m. in the Commons Area at the high school. Guests should park in the back lot and enter the doors outside the gym, close to the Little Giant statue. The assembly begins at 10 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center. It will last until approximately 11 a.m.

Guest speaker this year is Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Julie (Burke) Barriere, a 1995 graduate of Fremont Ross High School who has been deployed numerous times and has received numerous accolades from her time serving. She recently retired after 26+ years of service.

Veterans Day Breakfast set at Valley View

FREMONT — A Veterans Day Breakfast will be held at Valley View Health Campus from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday. The campus is at 1247 N. River Road. Veterans are welcome, but seating is limited. For a reservation to attend, please call 419-332-0357. The event is being cosponsored by Stein Hospice.

Sandusky County museum ends season early

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Historical Society Museum, 514 Birchard Ave.,has ended its season early as work begins replacing the roof on the nearly 140-year-old building.

Decker and Decker Construction is replacing the more-than-30-year-old roof to protect and preserve the historic items on display and/or stored in the building. Other construction in the area and road work on Park Avenue contributed to the decision to close a few weeks ahead of plans.

The museum, which featured a number of new exhibits this year, will reopen in the spring.

District receives $121,900 in H2Ohio grants

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Gary Click (R-Vickery) announce d a total of $121,900 has been awarded to areas within the 88th House District through H2Ohio grants. The grants are being used to provide assistance to public water systems and help communities identify and map lead pipes.

“These are positive investments to ensure we have healthy and safe water systems here in our communities within Sandusky and Seneca Counties and across Ohio,” Click said. “I was happy to support these initiatives down at the Statehouse.”

The following local areas were awarded the following: $22,400 for Gibsonburg Village and $50,000 for the City of Fremont.
