Ohio Sauerkraut event set for Saturday

FREMONT – Downtown Fremont Inc. will be hosting the Farmers Market and Sauerkraut Social Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

The Sauerkraut Social Event allows the Fremont Community to enjoy some of everyone’s favorite aspects of the Sauerkraut Festival from the 1980s. The event will feature the polka band, Northcoast Mix from Parma. Pony rides from Shining Star Farm will be featured throughout the market. Sauerkraut Specials will be offered by the local downtown restaurants and a Senior Pageant Contest will crown a king and queen of the event. Shelter animals ready for trick or treat

FREMONT - The Humane Society of Sandusky County will celebrate Trick or Treating from 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday in October at 1315 N. River Road. Halloween buckets will be placed outside the cats rooms and dog kennels. The public can donate treats and toys to help fill the buckets.

Celebrate opening of Outpour Coffee

FREMONT - The Chamber of Commerce Sandusky County will be celebrating the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Outpour Coffee at 9 a.m. Oct. 13. The ribbon cutting will be in downtown Fremont at 116 South Front St.

Café owners Michael and Natalie Hasselbach opened their traveling coffee cart in February and have been serving the Fremont and surrounding areas. They specialize in making their own syrup flavors featuring Hispanic and exotic flavors that are unique to the area.

Free women's health screenings offered at cancer center

FREMONT - The ProMedica Dorothy L. Kern Cancer Center, a division of ProMedica Memorial Hospital, is offering free screenings for women that include a pelvic exam/pap test, a breast exam and women’s health education.

Screenings will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 18 inside the Kern Cancer Center, 2390 Enterprise St.

Fall tour set for St. Mary's Cemetery

CLYDE - On Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a St. Mary's Cemetery Tour will be conducted by the Clyde Museum, 124 W. Buckeye St. This tour will be at a different Clyde cemetery this year to consider other interesting and significant individuals of the town's history. The tour will be led by historian Larry Michaels and Gene Smith, curator of the Clyde Museum and McPherson House.
