Farmers Market theme is 'Living Off the Grid'

FREMONT - The Downtown Fremont Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with the theme of 'Living Off the Grid." Featured vendors will include Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Green Recycling Scene, Ladies Homestead Gathering, Celery Gardens of Ballville, Paradise Energy Solutions, Black Swamp Coalition and Joyfully Remade. More than 90 booths are slated to set up.

Summer concerts in Oak Harbor kick off July 23

OAK HARBOR - The 2023 Commodore Perry FCU Summer Concert Series begins this month at Adolphus Kraemer Park. Come to the log cabin across from the Post Office on Church Street. Concerts are 6 to 7 p.m. Sundays. July 23 features Bradley Hoffman, July 30 is Dave Nike, Aug. 6 is Mark Wilkins, and Aug. 13 hosts the Ottawa County Bluegrass Band.

Parking is available in the library and municipal building parking lots or around Kramer Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an evening of music and fellowship.

Genealogical society travels to museum in Tiffin

PORT CLINTON - The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will be meeting at the Civil War Museum, 217 S. Washington St., Tiffin, at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The cost is: adults $7; seniors (55-plus) $6; students $4; and children (under 6) are free. The group will be having lunch afterwards at The Deli Cafe at Frost Village, 155 Frost Parkway. The public is welcome.

Clyde arts commission to meet Monday

CLYDE - The Clyde Arts and Entertainment Commission is slated to meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the second floor conference room, Clyde Municipal Building.

Trip to West Sister Island planned for Aug. 11

OAK HARBOR - The public has seen West Sister Island National Wildlife Refuge through Mike Rowe’s eyes on the popular TV series "Dirty Jobs." Now the public can see the island up close on a sunset cruise on Friday, Aug. 11.

West Sister Island NWR is a rookery; a place where local wading birds like herons and egrets come to nest. Located nine miles offshore, the island is covered with tall hackberry trees.

The cruise will launch from the Jet Express dock in downtown Port Clinton.  Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided on the ferry. Benefit tickets are $100 and available online at friendsofottawanwr.org or by calling the Friends at 419-707-7756. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the conservation mission of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.

Sandusky County Bridge Day is set for Wednesday

CLYDE - Area agencies will hold Sandusky County Bridge Day from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Open Shelter House, Clyde Community Park, 370 Fair St. Learn about recovery resources and enjoy free food. Activities covered include Narcan training, Touch a Truck, recovery resources, food access, peer support, transportation and community resources.

The first 100 to attend receive a free Clyde Pool Day pass, two per household. Sponsors are City of Clyde Police Department, Sandusky County Drug Task Force, Great Lakes Recover Center, Sandusky County Prosecutor Beth Tischler and Mental Health and Recover Services Board of Seneca, Ottawa, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties.
