Townsend Ruritan to offer pork chop dinner

VICKERY - The Townsend Ruritan Club will serve a pork chop dinner from 11 a.m. to sold out on Sunday, April 16, at the Townsend Fire Department. This is a drive-thru dinner. Cost, $12, includes pork chop, baked potato, sauerkraut, applesauce and roll.

Genealogical society to meet April 18

PORT CLINTON - The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. April 18 at Ida Rupp Public Library. The speakers will be librarians from Oak Harbor, Port Clinton and Elmore. They will be informing the group about what they have in genealogical research documents. The public is welcome to attend.

Clyde Arts and Entertainment Commission to meet

CLYDE - The Arts and Entertainment Commission will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, April 17, in the second floor conference room of the Clyde Municipal Building, 222 N. Main St.

Birchard Library Board to meet April 18

FREMONT - The Birchard Public Library Board will meet at 4 p.m. April 18 at the main library. The board will review its financial report, including disposal of excess furniture and equipment and a roof for the Woodville branch.

There also will be an update on the main library renovation. There will be a report from the new director search committee.

Honor Flight heads for Washington, D.C., on April 18

FINDLAY - Flag City Honor Flight, the Findlay-based hub of the National Honor Flight Network, will take off onits first flight of the 2023 flight season on April 18, taking approximately 85 veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the war memorials built in their honor. It is the first of four flights in 2023, the first time Flag City Honor Flight has offered four flights in a single flight season.

The flight returns to Toledo at the Grand Aire hangar at approximately 9:30 p.m., where there will be a welcome home ceremony with family members, friends, and members of the community, followed by "Mail Call." The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the homecoming celebration.

Flag City Honor Flight’s other 2023 flight dates are June 13, Sept. 12 and Nov. 7. The June 13 flight is an all-Vietnam-era flight. Veterans on all flights pay absolutely nothing to take the trip with Flag City Honor Flight. They are accompanied by guardians, who are asked to make a tax-deductible donation to help with expenses. Resurfacing slated for Ohio 19 through mid-October

FREMONT - The Ohio Department of Transportation reported that Ohio 19 from the City of Fremont to the Ottawa County line is restricted to one lane through a work zone for resurfacing now through mid-October.
