Veterans tribute concert planned at Clyde High School auditorium

CLYDE - The Towne and Country Players, Inc., a Norwalk-based educational/charitable nonprofit organization, will open its 58th season by presenting their 18th annual veterans tribute concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Clyde High School Performing Arts Auditorium, 1015 Race St.

“All Hands On Deck!” is the title of this year's presentation starring the Defiance College-Community 65 piece band and featuring vocalist Steve Bowersox, a graduate of Clyde High School and the Heidelberg College Conservatory of Music. Bowersox is the head of the music department at the University of Mobile, Alabama. The band is led by Cathy Booth and Scott Rogers, both musicians and educators.

Navy veteran Frank Trautman, Sandusky, along with Clyde’s VFW Women’s Auxiliary Chaplain, Theresa Stamm, will host the prologue. Appearing with them will be Clyde native and Gunnery Sgt. Patricia Stamm-Moyes, USMC of Cortland, Ohio, and “Miss Liberty," Patti DuBois, Sandusky. The show is age appropriate and is in two acts with tickets given free to veterans and active military.

Free tickets must be ordered by Nov. 11 at 416-668-0637 or by writing T and C Veterans Concert, P.O. Box 551 Norwalk, OH, 44857-0551. Tickets for the general public are $15 and can be purchased in advance or at the box office beginning at 2:30 p.m. when the doors open for general seating.

Tourism group slates grant program meetings in November

SANDUSKY - A popular grant program is available for the purpose of assisting Erie and Ottawa County organizations and businesses in developing projects that will attract and engage visitors and residents, serve and educate regional tourism partners, and generate economic growth for the community through travel and tourism development. The Shores and Islands Ohio Destination Development Grants will be awarded to Erie and Ottawa County organizations again in 2024 and are in addition to the organization’s sponsorship grant programs which will also continue.

Informational meetings detailing the grant, eligibility, application process, and reporting requirements will be held at both Shores and Islands Welcome Centers in November. Interested parties are encouraged to join one of these meetings and can attend at any location, regardless of county of origin.

Dates are 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at 125 E. Water St., Sandusky and 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov 7 at 770 S.W. Catawba Road., Port Clinton. A second round of meetings will be 9 a.m. Nov. 15 at 125 E. Water St., Sandusky, and 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at 770 S.W. Catawba Rd., Port Clinton.
