Walleye Festival advance ride tickets now on sale

PORT CLINTON – Advance ride tickets for the 2023 Main Street Port Clinton Walleye Festival are now available.  Each ride ticket is $50 and good for the entire Walleye Festival weekend.

The Walleye Festival will run from May 25 to May 29 at Waterworks Park along the shores of Lake Erie. Quantities are limited. Deadline to purchase advance ride tickets is 5 p.m. May 25. Make checks payable to Main Street Port Clinton, cash and credit cards are also accepted. You can purchase the advance ride tickets at the Port Clinton Chamber, 110 Madison St.

New show slated for Arts Garage

PORT CLINTON - The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council will hold its next exhibit at The Arts Garage, a show of original oil paintings by Rick Dziak, OPA, of Marblehead. This solo show titled “Best Foot Forward” will feature approximately 50 paintings.

The works will be on display from June 3 until July 2. Many of the paintings will be for sale. Those not for sale will be on loan from private collections and rarely seen.

Dziak works both "en plein air" and in the studio, both of which will be represented. An opening reception is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 at TAG, with refreshments and appetizers being served.

Dziak is also teaching a three-week oil painting course in June at TAG. “Landscape in Oil” will take place on June 10, 17 and 24; cost is $120 for GPCAAC members and $150 for nonmembers. For more information about GPCAAC and TAG, visit gpcaac.org.

Genealogical society to meet May 16

PORT CLINTON - The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. May 16 at the Ida Rupp Public Library. Speaker will be Sharon Barnett and the program will be "Lesser Known Resources of Hayes Library." The public is welcome.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients.
