The former Watts True Value Hardware building on Main Street in Newcomerstown is available for $275,000.

Leonard & Newline Real Estate Services is listing the property, with Jessica Moore, realtor, noting the potential of a Main Street location, listing: “Property includes, first floor former hardware store; second floor has efficiency apartment, two-bedroom apartment and three-bedroom apartment with original woodwork and pocket doors; 26x52 storage building with parking lot; 40x54 1990 All-Ohio Building with garage door. There is so much potential to remodel apartments or update and move in new tenants to cover payment while splitting the three storefronts to rent out or remodeling it to make your dream spot. Parking is available on street and off street (10 spaces River Street side). Perfect spot for a bakery, farm market or even a restaurant.”

There will be a youth basketball camp for boys entering grades 2-6 from 10 a.m. to noon on June 21-23 at Newcomerstown High School, featuring instruction from current and past Newcomerstown players and coaches.  Registration is $25 per athlete with a cap of $75 per family. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. For information, call 740-260-7778 or visit the Newcomerstown Boys Basketball Facebook page.

New coach

Zeb Troyer has been hired as the new head girls basketball coach. He is a 2001 graduate of Garaway High School and started his coaching career at Garaway under Coach Dave Shutt. He has also coached under Coach Scott Bardall and Coach Terry Rowe. For the past two years, he has been junior varsity boys coach at New Philadelphia High School.

In an announcement, Coach Troyer wrote: “I’m really excited about my next chapter of coaching as the head girls basketball coach at Newcomerstown High School. Growing up in the Inter-Valley Conference, I know the passion and excitement that gym can bring. I can’t wait to feel that energy again in that gym. I’m thankful for all the coaches I’ve gotten to work for and now it’s time to start my own legacy. I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of me and getting to know the girls and the community. I can’t wait to get started. I’m glad to be a part of the IVC again. Let’s go Lady Trojans!”

Chad Elliott, Newcomerstown Athletic Director, wrote, “This is a great hire for our girls basketball program. It was unfortunate to lose Coach Chase Addy. Coach Addy did a wonderful job with our girls for the past five years. I knew he was going to be hard to replace. We wanted to find someone who had experience coaching at the high school level to continue advancing a program that is moving in the right direction. We think Coach Troyer has what it takes to help us move our program forward in a positive way.”
