Responding to rapid shifts toward digital news consumption, the News Herald will be making online journalism its primary focus beginning in late June.

The News Herald will continue to publish breaking news and local feature stories seven days a week online at portclintonnewsherald.com, and will publish a weekly print edition combined with the Fremont News-Messenger on Saturdays that will be delivered by mail beginning July 2.

The last daily carrier-delivered edition will be June 25, ending more than a century of the print News Herald newspaper.

“We’ve been much more than just a print newspaper for many years as we’ve built a significant online audience that seeks local news from our apps and social media channels,” Editor David Yonke said. “We already have more digital subscribers than print customers who request daily delivery.”

All subscribers to the Port Clinton News Herald will continue to have full access to portclintonnewsherald.com.

In addition, all subscribers of both newspapers have daily access to freshly updated local news online and daily e-editions of national news and sports daily along with USA TODAY on weekdays.

All print subscribers have full digital access, meaning they can read news updates throughout the day, subscriber-only stories and video and audio features, among other benefits. Subscribers also have 24/7 access to obituaries, legal notices and classifieds on our website.

Subscribers also have digital access to the USA TODAY Network’s full suite of e-editions across the country, meaning you can read daily e-editions from Columbus, Akron and Detroit along with many others. Subscribers also have ad-free access to the USA TODAY Crossword puzzle.

Anyone with questions about the change can access their account at help.portclintonnewsherald.com or call customer service at 1-877-424-0218.
