ADAM SHAPIRO: Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the Gulf Coast this morning, dropping record amounts of rain, which when it's all over could exceed 30 inches in some areas. Parts of Florida's panhandle, as well as the Alabama coast, are already experiencing flooding from the storm, which intensified from a category 1 to category 2 hurricane. Sally is expected to also spawn tornadoes as it moves inland over the next few hours.

JULIE HYMAN: The family of Breonna Taylor is set to receive a settlement of $12 million from the city of Louisville, Kentucky six months after the 26-year-old was shot and killed by police in a botched drug raid. Breonna Taylor's name has been invoked by protesters across the country, and she's been featured on the covers of "Oprah" and "Vanity Fair" magazines. It's unclear whether the Louisville officers involved in the shooting will be criminally charged. That was a key demand of protesters.

ADAM SHAPIRO: And an independent review of Eastman Kodak determined the company's lawyers failed to properly brief Kodak's board of directors on the legal risks when it granted stock to CEO Jim Continenza. Kodak stock jumped from around $2 to as high as $60 a share back in July, when the federal government announced that $767 million loan to help Kodak develop a pharmaceutical business.

Continenza's stock was awarded the day before the news became public, and then the stock surged. The SEC and Congress, they are still investigating if Kodak broke the law.

JULIE HYMAN: And Big Ten football is back. After originally postponing the season, the conference has decided to return to the field this week, the weekend of October 23, for an eight-game season. The Big Ten says it will adopt strict medical protocols, including daily testing and screenings. The decision makes the PAC 12 the only Power 5 conference with still no official plans to play.
