ADAM SHAPIRO: President Trump says he will announce his choice to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the US Supreme Court Friday or Saturday. Trump says he will wait until after RBG's funeral later this week. She died last Friday, but a few days before her death, Ginsburg dictated a-- a statement to her granddaughter, which said, quote, "My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."

Now, two Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, have already said they will not vote to confirm an appointee until after the presidential election.

JULIE HYMAN: And, Adam, in the wake of RBG's death, donors were galvanized over the weekend to pour a record $100 million into ActBlue. That's the biggest online processing platform for the left. Meanwhile, the Biden campaign reported it had started September with $466 million in cash. That includes money in the Democratic Party's coffers. And that compares with $325 million for President Trump's campaign and his joint operations with the Republican National Committee.

ADAM SHAPIRO: Tesla CEO Elon Musk ordered his employees to keep factory output as high as possible over the next 10 days. A leaked email Musk sent his staff indicates Tesla has a chance to deliver a record number of vehicles in the third quarter. It says, quote, "We have a shot at a record quarter of vehicle deliveries, but we'll have to rally hard to achieve it."

In the second quarter of this year, Tesla delivered more than 90,000 vehicles. That beat analysts' estimates, and it actually shrugged off a factory shutdown that hurt output because of the pandemic. Tesla holds its annual shareholders meeting tomorrow in conjunction with its Battery Day.
