New round of U.S.-China trade talks

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin head to Beijing next week to negotiate face-to-face with their Chinese counterparts. The White House says China and the United States hope to issue a draft agreement next month to end the current trade dispute. The talks will focus on intellectual property, forced technology transfers, agriculture and enforcement,” Chinese officials led by Vice Premier Liu He will head to Washington on May 8 for additional negotiations.

Guns in classrooms

Florida lawmakers are a step closer to lifting a ban that prohibits teachers from carrying guns in classrooms. The Florida Senate approved the change to current law yesterday and it is expected to pass in the Florida House of Representatives. Parents and students from Stoneman Douglas High School, the scene of a tragic shooting that killed 17 students and school administrators last year, demonstrated at the Florida State Capitol against the change.

Britney is OK

"All is well" says pop singer Britney Spears. She released a video reassuring her fans that she is OK following a social media speculation storm about her health after reports that she had checked into a mental health treatment facility. The 37-year-old singer says her family has dealt with a lot of stress and anxiety lately and fans should not believe everything they read or hear. Spears says not to worry she will be back soon.

24-year-old Powerball jackpot winner

And no worries for the 24-year-old man who won the third largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history. Manuel Franco from West Allis Wisconsin claimed the $768 million-dollar Powerball jackpot yesterday although he chose the $477 million dollar lump sum payment. Franco says he quit his job two days after realizing he had won. His goal prior to the jackpot was growing his bank account to one thousand bucks. Now he says he will make some charitable donations, talk to his family and in his own words, make sure he spends his millions the right way.
