The News receives 13 awards in contest

Nov. 15—The Eastern New Mexico News received 13 awards Saturday in the annual New Mexico Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest.

The newspaper staff won first place for best special section and best use of advertising in a special section. The newspaper staff also took second-place honors for best website and best use of advertising in a special section.

Graphic artist Andrea Ramos won first place for newspaper promotion and house advertising and second-place for a classified advertising section.

Publisher David Stevens received first-place awards in editorial writing, sports column writing, obituary writing and for best series.

Stevens also received second place awards for best series and column writing.

Former Editor Kevin Wilson was honored for headline writing.

The awards were for work published in the second half of 2021 and the first six months of 2022.

Contest judges were from the Wyoming Press Association.
