In the News: Street Department crews went above and beyond

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Employees of the Newcomerstown Street Department were stretched to the maximum with the recent snowstorms which blanketed the region.

Mayor Pat Cadle was appreciative of the effort.

“The street department has done a great job clearing the streets of the snow we have had,” Mayor Cadle said. “We only have four guys so they are working 12-15 hour shifts with these heavier snows. We had a few calls about plowing but most were for alleys. With these big snows, the main streets are plowed the most at first, then the secondary streets and alleys are last. We received 11-12 inches on Sunday-Monday, Jan. 16-17. That’s an overload of snow!”
