1 dead, 1 detained in shooting at Howell business

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Officers from the Howell Police Department responded to the 100 block of W Grand River Ave. for a complaint of threats made at a local business shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Upon arrival, officers found a man dead from a gunshot wound inside the building.

Officers took one individual inside the building into custody.

We want to emphasize that there is currently no threat to the public. This incident did not occur near the Balloonfest event and is in no way connected to the event. This was an isolated incident and all subjects ivolved are currently cooperating with the investigation. We as that no one respond to the scene in order to give investigators time to conduct their investigations.
