Triple shooting in Downtown West leaves 1 dead, 2 hospitalized

ST. LOUIS – Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting overnight that left one man dead and two other people hospitalized.

According to a police statement, the shooting happened Sunday around 3:30 a.m. in the 600 block of North 15th Street, in the city’s Downtown West neighborhood.

EMS pronounced one victim, Paul Kai Jr., dead at the scene. Kai was 20. Two other victims were brought to a local hospital, with one in critical condition and the other in stable condition. A fourth person involved in the shooting was unharmed.

A possible motive for the shooting was not disclosed.
