1 dead in southeast Columbus gas station shooting

One person is dead after a shooting early Friday morning at a gas station on the Southeast Side, Columbus police said.

Columbus police said officers got a call around 1:40 a.m. about a person who had been shot showing up at a gas station at the intersection of Noe-Bixby Road and Refugee Road.

When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Jahaan Harris with gunshot injuries. Harris was rushed by Madison Township fire medics to a nearby hospital, but died from his injuries at 2:31 a.m.

Police said detectives believe the shooting happened a short distance away on Brandy Drive at the Amberly Square Apartments, located off Refugee Road near the intersection with Noe-Bixby.

No suspect information or motive have been released by police.
