1 hospitalized, 5 cats killed, in Las Vegas valley home fire

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A home fire in the southeast Las Vegas valley left one person hospitalized and five cats dead, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

It happened on Friday shortly after 4 p.m. at a home in the 600 block of Mystic Cliffs Avenue near Cactus Avenue and Bermuda Road.

Fire crews found a two-story single-family dwelling with a fully involved garage fire. Four vehicles in front of the home were also involved, and the fire extended into the first floor of the home. Fire crews quickly put water on the fire, entered the home, and were able to control the extent of the damage.

Fire crews later found five cats dead. One person was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation injuries and two adults were displaced due to the incident.

Clark County Fire Department was assisted by Henderson Fire Department and American Red Cross on this fire.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
