A 1-year-old "miracle baby" has survived after his 4-year-old brother was found dead and their mother was arrested.

On Tuesday, July 9, at approximately 9 a.m. local time, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called after a passerby saw a baby in a ditch on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 10 in Vinton, Louisiana, per a news release shared on Facebook.

Police had been searching for the 1-year-old after the body of his 4-year-old brother was found on Monday, July 8 in water near the Vinton Welcome Center, the release stated.

Detectives had been advised that the boy had last been seen on Saturday, July 6 with his mother, Aaliyah N. Jack, 25, of Lake Charles.

Jack was "located in Mississippi, without the 1-year-old, by the Meridian Police Department and taken into custody," police confirmed. She was charged with failure to report a missing child, and Judge Tony Fazzio issued a $300,000 warrant set bond.
