14-year-old boy shot, killed in Annandale; another hurt

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Fairfax County are investigating a shooting that left a teenage boy dead and another hospitalized late Friday night in Annandale.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) responded to the fatal shooting just after 11:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of Wadsworth Court. They found two teenage boys suffering from gunshot wounds.

A 16-year-old boy had been shot in his lower body, while a 14-year-old had been shot in his upper body.

Despite life-saving efforts, FCPD said the 14-year-old boy died at the hospital.

The 16-year-old remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle before officers were able to arrive. Detectives believe the two boys were walking together in the area when a vehicle approached them and the suspects shot at them.

FCPD said they do not believe this was a random shooting.
